Another case against Owaisi for “hate speech”


Hyderabad, Jan 3: The Osmania University Police have registered a case against MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi on Thursday on the directions of the Nampally court.
One Venkatesh Goud had filed a petition in the court praying for action against the MLA for his alleged “hate speech” made by him at Nirmal in Adilabad district on December 24. The court directed the OU police to register the case.
It might be mentioned here that a social activist Shabnam Hashmi had also filed a complaint against Akbaruddin in the Parliament Street Police in New Delhi in this connection. The MIM legislator is at present in United Kingdom.

The alleged “hate speech” by the MIM MLA had triggered off wide spread protests from various quarters, especially from the BJP which demanded stern action against his inflammatory speech which tends to create enemity among two communities.

Reacting to the alleged “hate speech” by the MIM legislator, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy pointed out that the government would not interfere in the matter as the law would take its own course of action. The Congress is a secular party and all sections of people are equal in the eyes of the government , he observed and added that the Congress and the Government would always protect the interests of the minorities.

Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member Venkaiah Naidu demand3ed that the MIM legislator should be immediately arrested for making an objectionable and inflammatory speech. As a matter of fact questioning the hanging of Ajmal Kasab tantamounts to treason and treachery, he added.

The BJP leader also lambasted the State Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy was not acting in the matter till the issue was raised in the court.

The TDP leader S. Chandramohan Reddy also warned Akabaruddin Owaisi to control his tongue and refrain from inciting communal hatred among the people.

Menahwile MIM Lok Sabha member from Hyderabad Asaduddin Owaisi said that the party and his younger brother Akbaruddin would fight the issue legally in the court.
